From Trash to Restoration to FABULOUS!!

My dad is a construction worker and often he is asked to take old furniture to the  trash. In one occasion he was asked to throw out this old wood sewing machine stand and he thought I would like it for my sewing machine. He was completely right and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was going to be a pinterest task. Here is what I did with it:

  1. You need to start by sanding your piece. Make sure you sand on a circular motion until all the gloss is gone.

  2. Clean your piece from all the dust from the sanding.
  3. Apply white primer twice. A good application of primer will help you achieve better results, especially if your base color is a deep or bold color.
  4. Trace with tape the shapes that you want paint in your piece. In my case I opted for an irregular chevron pattern.
  5. Let it dry and reapply your secondary colors.
  6. You can opt to apply paint protection. I used a spray mate paint protector for mine.
  7. Ta-dá!! Enjoy your renew beautiful piece.
